AEI Supports Haulin the Hume

AEI is a proud sponsor of Haulin’ the Hume which began in 2011 when, at the request of his retired truck driving father, Bruce Gunter (Event Manager) decided to hold a vintage truck rally retracing the Old Hume Highway from Casula to Yass. Bruce thought it would be a great way to use their restored commercial vehicles and pay respect to the amazing men and women who used to drive this treacherous piece of road long before it became a multi-lane highway. The run is sanctioned by The Western Sydney Historical Truck Club.

This is the fourth time that Haulin’ has been held and with an initial entrant list of 143 trucks for their first run, registered 308 trucks this year. The run began at Clarendon Showgrounds in Richmond NSW, stopping for lunch and a short display in Goulburn NSW and finished with dinner in Yass NSW.

Haulin’ is raising funds for Aspect – Autism Spectrum Australia to support the research and awareness of children with Autism. This is done via a silent auction however major sponsorship allows them to finance the event which in turn filters through as a bulk of their donation. Where the majority of money donated will go to Aspect, they also donate some funds into the country areas as the support for special needs children is very light-on outside of Sydney. Last year they donated $25,000.00 to Aspect and $5,000.00 to a special needs organisation in Goulburn.

Haulin’ are currently counting the donations from the weekend, let’s hope for an even better outcome this year!
